Paintings are like snowflakes.
Meet the person behind the paintings
Hi, my name is Kenzie O’connell and I am a self taught artist, I’ve always had a passion for all kinds of art. I guess you could say I was a little entrepreneur from the start. When I was 10, I would sell these little clay figures at my dad’s lumber business thinking “this is exactly what people will want to decorate their new home.” Art was the one thing in school I was good at and school never came easy to me. I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was in the first grade and I came close to failing most subjects. So, my senior year of high school, I ended up dropping some classes and picked up a lot of art classes to get my GPA up. After high school I moved to Arizona to pursue my goal of playing professional golf which was my first love. I never really considered a career in art. I unfortunately did not accomplish that goal, but I have had a very successful career in golf and it is a very large part of my life. Skipping ahead a little. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 21. It’s been a roller coaster of medications, MRIs, driving and not driving, no independence and figuring out who I am as a person. I think everyone goes through trying to figure out who they are though. I do know people who are dyslexic tend to take different routes to get to an answer than others, most of the time backwards and sometimes longer than others, but we will eventually get there. I am not sure if this helps me with my creative process or not. Because of my epilepsy, I have not driven a car for almost 7 years. I am very fortunate to have a studio at my home. My husband is an amazing uber driver as well, so that also is a blessing! To sum everything up, I love creating pieces for people and bringing a vision someone has to life. Seeing tears of joy or a huge smile makes my heart happy. I hope you love my pieces and they make you happy like they make me happy. I hope we can create something amazing together!
